Acupuncture is a time-tested medicine of 3000 years old, an art of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and a prominent study still being researched and developed today.
The basis of TCM depicts a natural flow of energy that is constantly flowing throughout one’s body. When this flow of energy becomes disrupted, it affects the wellness and self-healing interaction of the mind and body.
A trained practitioner can pinpoint these energy imbalances via visual cues or pulse listening techniques.
The technique of Acupuncture is to pierce a fine and sterile needle through an area of the skin in relation to the disease by a depth of a few millimeters. This procedure can influence and correct the natural flow of energy and accelerate the body’s capabilities of natural healing.
TCM takes a macro approach to disease by pursuing homeostasis in the human body. It focuses on prevention, wellness and the self-healing mechanisms of the mind and body.
In contrast, Western medicine looks at parts of the body separately and deals with the underlying problem directly by using drugs or technology.
The efficacy of Western medicine may be the greatest among all practices but there are instances where it cannot control side effects of the drugs or reduce the patient’s pain and suffering. Where Western medicine fails is often where people turn to TCM. Proper application of TCM imposes no harmful side effects and can often treat problems where Western Medicine is ineffective. It also complements Western medicine by easing symptoms and accelerating self-healing.
By combining both practices side by side we can realize a much greater potential for medical treatments.
